The exhibition at the Scuderie del Quirinale in Rome from 20 February to 13 June 2010 is an exciting insight into most of the artists greatest paintings, or rather works historically identified as being by his own hand: the Basket of fruit, David with the head of Goliath, The musicians, The lute player, Amor vincit omnia (Love triumphant) among the masterpieces sent from all over the world; a tribute to the unique quality of Caravaggios work in this year of celebrations to mark the 400th anniversary of his death.
The iPhone application, implemented by the Azienda Speciale Palaexpo with the support of Accenture Mobility Operated Services in a technological partnership, offers an interactive and captivating visit of the exhibition; an opportunity to enrich visitors knowledge of Caravaggio, in parallel to the magic of a traditional visit, or a not-to-be-missed virtual trip for those who cannot get to the Scuderie.
By touching the screen you enter Caravaggios life, illustrated by comparisons to art in his time and with an overview of the historical context. Paintings are presented in the exhibited order, with complete descriptions and detailed new explanations. With the digital reproduction it is possible to zoom images and see details not always visible with the naked eye. The application also unveils some of the secrets hidden in Caravaggios work.
